News: Nintendo & 54 Companies Launch Piracy Suit

That's the second biggest piracy suit we've ever seen! The target: the R4 device for the DS.

The 'R4 Revolution For DS' device allows for downloaded pirated games to be played on the DS by essentially being a Micro SD card to DS cartridge converter. It has long been in a grey area with Nintendo, but today the Big N is finally taking action.

And it's not alone: some fifty-four other gaming companies are joining in, making for a massive law suit that will be taken to the Tokyo District Court to prevent any further marketing, sales or importation of the R4 device in Japan. Those other companies include SNK, Capcom, Koei, Jaleco, Square Enix, Sega, Taito, Takara Tomy, Tecmo, Hudson, Bandai Namco, The Pokémon Company and Level Five, among many others.

The device "allows illegal uploading from the internet [and] is causing severe damage to our company and software makers, and this is something that we cannot possibly overlook," a Nintendo spokesperson has said. We'll bring you more as it breaks.
