Nintendo of Australia confirm that copies of Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City are incompatible with the DS...
Confirming our report last week, Nintendo of Australia have issued a press release stating that Australian copies of Animal Crossing on Wii are unable to connect to Animal Crossing on DS. To quote:
"Nintendo Australia has identified an issue with the ability to transfer data between Animal Crossing: Let's go to the City (Wii) and Animal Crossing: Wild World (Nintendo DS). It is not possible to exchange data between Animal Crossing: Let's go to the City (Wii) and Animal Crossing: Wild World (Nintendo DS).
"No other game functions are affected. Nintendo Australia is investigating this matter, and apologises for any inconvenience to our valued customers. Any further information will be posted on the Nintendo Australia website as soon as it is available. This issue only affects Australian consumers."
The issue has arisen due to the fact that copies of Animal Crossing on sale in Australia for the DS are actually a relabelled U.S. version of the game, and thus Nintendo's own region-locking is keeping Aussie copies of Animal Crossing on Wii from connecting.
We're not sure how Nintendo can fix this... a downloadable patch for the Wii version maybe? More if and when it breaks.
