News: Nintendo Boosts Expected Profit Forecast

Nintendo ups its expected profit for the year to a rather tidy sum indeed...

Nintendo is set to net more money this year than even it originally expected, as buoyant sales of both the Wii and DS continue worldwide. The company now expects a profit increase up 59% on last financial year to 410 billion yen ($3.8 billion), a rise of 26% on original expectations.

DS sales were originally expected to have started slowly declining this year, from 30,310,000 units sold last year to 28,000,000 - but this figure has been revised upwards to 30,500,000 - meaning that all these years on, the DS is continuing to grow stronger and stronger.

Everything looks rosy with the Wii as well - with a new raised projection of 26,500,000 units to be sold by the end of this financial year - up from 18,610,000 last year.

Obviously these numbers are just estimated figures, but we're pretty sure Nintendo know what they're calculating. This is indeed a great time to hold stock in Nintendo!
