Nintendo UK dips their toe in the retail water with a concession store inside John Lewis in London.
After a rumour a few months ago suggesting that Nintendo would open a store in the UK was brushed aside by Nintendo themselves all seemed lost for Nintendo fans. However, with little fanfare Nintendo has finally opened a concession store in John Lewis' flagship store on Oxford Street in London. However, fans hoping for a Nintendo World style store will be disappointed to hear there is not much merchandise.
A report form Nintendo Scene states that the store is mostly just a place for Nintendo to sell its games, almost like a dedicated Nintendo section of a HMV store. They also suggest that prices are typically higher than most other stores.
On Monday 24th October the 4th floor of John Lewis, where the concession is based, is set to have an opening party and Mario and Luigi will be present. Hopefully the store will introduce more merchandise as time goes by, particularly with the holiday period coming up, and perhaps it will be used in a number of ways by Nintendo in the future but this remains to be seen.
