Nintendogs : Chihuahua & Friends

News: Nintendo Confirm European 'Dogs Date

It's been confirmed the smash-hit DS game Nintendogs will finally reach Europe this October 7th. Read on for more...

Now you too can experience the joy of a mischievous puppy without waking up to chewed slippers and puddles on the floor, or so the official site says. Nintendo of Europe have finally confirmed that there is only a couple of months to go until doggy-fans all over the continent can pick up whichever of the game's three versions will suit them best.

The three version options - Labrador Retriever, Miniature Dachshund and Chihuahua - come with six different breeds of puppies to begin with, and include three breeds the Golden Retriever, Siberian Husky and Boxer not available in the Japanese version. As well as that, each breed has a choice of puppies to choose from, so you can choose the gender and characteristics of your pup.

The game's charm lies partly in it's easy to use controls. The touch screen allows easy access to the toys, treats and activities availiable. Playing games with your puppy will raise its skill level and help to train it, making it more obedient and opening up more options. Build up a pet's skill enough and you will even get to take part in dog shows, competing in front of a large crowd to showcase the tricks it has learnt.

Voice recognition is also supported, allowing you to simply call your doggy by it's name you've chosen, and also to issue it spoken commands.

After the huge sales of the game in Japan, Nintendo are obviously hoping for a similar success story here. Remember to pick up the copy of your choice (or all three!) from October 7th!

Update:

Nintendo of Europe have launched a Nintendogs micro-site, which can be found here!
