News: Nintendo Cuts Shipments

Nintendo has cut its profit outlook by 11 per cent, and has cut shipments of GC and GBA.

Nintendo has cut its full-year profit outlook by 11 per cent, blaming a stronger-than-expected yen and has also cut shipments of GameCube and GBA.

Nintendo estimated in May it would lose about 10 billion yen this fiscal year related to its foreign-currency assets. The forecast was made on the assumption of a dollar-yen exchange rate at 130. The yen has risen since then, trading currently at about 122 to the US dollar.

Nintendo has also lowered its shipments for both GameCube and Game Boy Advance. Cube shipments have been revised from 12 million to 10 million. GBA shipments will be reduced from 19 million to 15 million.

Hey, everybody makes mistakes with money-even Nintendo. Besides, with all the money it got from Rare, Nintendo can afford to lose a little cash...
