Now this is interesting news indeed! Dare I say that you should HURRY INSIDE NOW! Inside this news item, that is :)
Our friends http://gba.n64europe.com have posted a juicy bit of gossip for us!
The site, run by Dennis a.k.a. our very own BlackBird (author of GBA Weekly and forum moderator!), has reported that "According to the Online Product Manager of EA Netherlands, Martijn van der Meulen, the Nintendo DS will eventually be called the Nitro..."
"Nintendo has had a website for several years, for the people who develop games for their systems. On this website, and on the part where I don't need to log in for, the name Nitro is being communicated. The Nitro? I can't say too much about it (NDA's) but I'm sure it's pretty obvious now for some people"
Now this really is tasty news! Does this new explosive (oh dear) name sound 'da bomb' (not again!) to you, or is it just... *tries to think of another nitro-related joke*.. Just.. Erm, well, just a bit rubbish? As always I will be eagerly awaiting your comments on this subject!

Update
Nintendo have spoke about the matter and have dismissed it as false. They stated that the "Nintendo Nitro" was simply the codename for the machine while in planning stages, much like Dolphin was for the Nintendo GameCube.
They stated that the Nintendo DS has yet to have an official name and is still being called by its current codename.
