Forget the doom-mongering. 3DS becomes the fastest selling Nintendo console ever in Europe...

Nintendo of Europe has revealed the launch weekend sales of the 3DS, confirming the system enjoyed the fastest sales of any Nintendo console in the region.

3DS sold an impressive 113,000 units in the UK alone after just two days, surpassing the DS' figure of 87,000 and Wii's 105,000. Across the whole of Europe, 3DS shifted around 303,000 units for the weekend.

Nintendo of Europe's Laurent Fischer said the launch showed the 3DS to be connecting to all gamers.

"Nintendo 3DS allows people to experience, for the first time, 3D technology on the move and at home, with fun and surprises for all to enjoy. With the built-in pick-up-and-play Face Raiders game and StreetPass feature adding new dimensions to the already diverse line-up of launch titles, Nintendo 3DS has struck a chord with gamers old and new."
