News: Nintendo Finally Axe Gamecube Support

Nintendo have confirmed that first party support and production have come to an end. However, there may still be a market for the system.
In a recent interview with GameDaily, Nintendo of America's Perrin Kaplan has confirmed that Gamecube production has finally ended, and that the company would no longer be supporting the system.
Are many of us shocked by this? Although it was lovely for Twilight Princess to act as a 'swan song' for the Nintendo machine, support has steadily been declining for our little cubic bundle of joy.
However, according to Kaplan, there is still an audience out there who may yet still find pleasure in the Gamecube.
"...just like the PS2 sold really well this past holiday, GameCube is a great starter system - price, ease, games, cost of games. Every one of the consoles has had its cycle and every single one of them has become a great starter system at the last leg of its cycle, and that's where GameCube's at."
We find it hard to disagree with Kaplan. Over the years, there have been some fantastic releases on this system, from the artistic Wind Waker, to the critically acclaimed Metroid Prime, from the fast and furious F Zero GX to the sublime Resident Evil 4. There is absolutely no reason why gamers, both old and new should not have at least experienced some of the wealth that was and is still on offer.
