News: Nintendo Game Seminar

Nintendo is taking applications for the Nintendo Game Seminar 2003, which will take place in Tokyo, Japan from the month of June to August.

The instructors will be teaching various things like general gaming knowledge, game design, programming and sound. The seminar's staff will be composed of gaming professionals directly out of Nintendo, with the possibility of Miyamoto's presence.

Only thirty college students from Tokyo will be accepted, after they have taken a test and a few interviews. It definetely sounds very hard to join, but there are other places in the world where you can obtain the same type of knowledge.

If Japan's language and cultural barrier is too much for you, Nintendo of America also is offering the same kind of teachings in Seattle, Washington, USA. The name of the school is DigiPen and it offers all the education needed to join the gaming business with 4 year programs. If that's too long for you, they also organize Summer Workshops where you can get a get a general feel of the school and see how it works while receiving knowledge on game development (the final project consists of you making a game along with a group). This is what I'll be doing this summer throughout August, it sounds great and I'm very excited. All workshop attendees will have an opportunity to tour portions of Nintendo of America. Application accepatance for DigiPen ends April 30th. More information can be found at the official DigiPen site.
