Nintendo of Europe has announced the appointment of Nortec Multimedia S.A as Nintendo's exclusive and official distributor for the Turkish market, commencing December 2004.
Nortec Multimedia S.A. has been Nintendo's official distributor for the territories of Greece and Cyprus since 1997 and Bulgaria, Albania and Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia since 2002.
Mr. George Katrinakis, Managing Director of Nortec, says: "The Turkish market is a very promising one, which continues to grow as they move towards becoming a full member of the EEC. There is great potential for Nintendo's products in Turkey and we are thrilled to be given the chance to develop the Turkish market and offer consumers an unparalleled gaming experience. We are sure that Mario, Pokémon, Zelda and other popular Nintendo franchises will enrich and increase Turkey's entertainment sector like they did in Greece."
Satoru Shibata, President, Nintendo of Europe comments: "Nintendo has a very exciting period ahead with the launch of the new handheld console Nintendo DS, so this is an ideal time to expand our presence beyond the European market. Nortec Multimedia S.A had already demonstrated its capability as our distributor in a number of other key territories, and we are looking forward to seeing them help us make the same impact on our business in Turkey."
This addition to Nintendo's international distributor roster demonstrates the continued growth in popularity of Nintendo products in this region plus Nintendo's ongoing commitment to expanding global market share.
