News: Nintendo Hacked But No Personal Info Lost

Nintendo has confirmed they were hacked but reassures fans that no personal information was lost.

In the wake of the hack that saw the PlayStation Network taken down for some time and a lot of customer's personal information stolen, as well as subsequent attacks on other Sony services, the gaming industry has been trying to improve their security while the hacking community seems to be trying to prove otherwise.

Nintendo has confirmed that one of their servers was hacked, by Lulzsec according to their Twitter account, but has reassured fans that no personal information was contained on that server. A Nintendo spokesperson addressed the issue to ease any possible fears. "We are always working to make sure our systems are secure," the spokesperson said in an official statement.

Lulzsec also commented on the hack and reiterated Nintendo's comments that there is no cause for concern. "Re: Nintendo, we just got a config file and made it clear that we didn't mean any harm. Nintendo had already fixed it anyway.

Nintendo's E3 conference is now less than 48 hours away so we shall see if they address this issue, particularly in regards to their new console that many are assuming will have a more in-depth online service.
