Wii sales surpass those of the Xbox 360, making it the best-selling home console of this generation.

Nintendo is now officially leading this generation of the console wars. And four years ago, we never thought we'd be typing that. It has been a miraculous turn-around for the company that spent the GameCube's console generation in last place behind the Xbox and PS2.

An article by the Financial Times has confirmed that the Wii has now surpassed the sales of the Xbox 360, which launched with a year head start on the Wii and Sony's PlayStation 3 - the latter of whom is currently in third place behind Nintendo and Microsoft's consoles.

To put this news in perspective, Nintendo was last leading the home console market back in 1993 during in the days of the SNES, before the original PlayStation launched and Sony took Nintendo's crown.
