News: Nintendo Motorbike Game Patent Uncovered

A newly uncovered patent reveals a motorbike game being developed for the Nintendo Wii.

The North American studio Nintendo Software Technology, responsible for titles such as Mario vs. Donkey Kong, at some point worked on a motorbike game that used the Balance Board. Siliconera uncovered a patent that was filed by Nintendo in the USPTO that sheds some light onto the project.

The patent details two games, a motorbike game and a jet skiing game, that use the same control method. Players would stand on the balance board and use either the Wii Remote and Nunchuck or just the Wii Remote to control the vehicle. The vehicles were controlled primarily with the Wii Remote, using it to turn or accelerate and break, but players could shift their weight on the Balance Board to make sharp turns.
