News: Nintendo On Interview

Nope, the Nintendo On concept is still fake, but 23 year-old Spanish art student Pablo Belmonte discusses his making of one of the most elaborate faked concepts in years.

Any gaming fan will know the period up until E3 is hectic, filled with false rumours, shady Photoshopped pictures and "my friend whose brother's barber cuts Miyamoto's hair said..." incidents. So when a video was leaked claiming to be showcasing Nintendo's next console the internet world was set alight. Fans around the world were discussing the possibility of 'Nintendo On' being real.

A few days later it was revealed to be fake while the world got their first look at the Revolution, what Nintendo had actually made. However, what makes the Nintendo On stand out above all the other fakes is this one was so elaborate it even impressed Nintendo. "I think our reaction at the time was unanimous -- this video is pretty impressive!" said Perrin Kaplan, vice president of marketing and corporate affairs at Nintendo of America.

Even though E3 has long gone there are still several people who believe the Nintendo On to be real, and its all an elaborate plan by Nintendo to trick us all. Those people are probably the same ones who feel that The X-Files is in fact a documentary. However, to prove them wrong 1UP.com have managed to snag a discussion with the creator of the fake Nintendo On video, Pablo Belmonte.

The interview discusses his reasons for doing it, the epic five-day marathon to create it and all the other characters he created that weren't included in the final cut. Surprisingly, the reason behind the video was not to tease or annoy Nintendo fans, but rather to show what is possible if company's really try to be different.
