Nintendo released a very brief press release about the subject. It stated that Nintendo are "establishing a new research and development facility in Tokyo." which will help "unique games for Nintendo hardware platforms, adding to the depth and breadth of Nintendo's first-party game library."

While the facility isn't open yet Nintendo responded to the question of it's opening with the fact it will be opening "in the coming months."
