News: Nintendo Responds To Wii Release Rumours

Nintendo has responded to the recent surge in rumours about the Wii's release date, saying it is still coming in the 'fourth quarter'.

Speaking to Bloomberg.com, Nintendo of Japan spokesman Yasuhiro Minagawa, said that there was "no change in our plan to release the console in the last quarter of this year..." Regarding when a launch date and price would be confirmed, he said that Nintendo are "planning an announcement in September and it may be causing some confusion."

This rectifies CNN's speculation yesterday that September was a "dark horse candidate for the Wii's release. Which was doubly suprising, considering September isn't even in the fourth quarter of the year, which begins in October.

It looks like we may have to wait another two months for concrete info...
