Nintendo has confirmed that - in the UK, at least - the DSi is set to receive a price drop...
Those holding out to buy a DSi may have been wise to wait, as it has been confirmed that the price of system is set to come down for the first time since launch.
The consumer price of the DSi has always ultimately been set by retailers, but it's been announced that the trade price of the hardware in the UK will come down as of June 18th. However, many online retailers have already put the price of the DSi well below the RRP of 149.99, with most sites now selling the standalone console at just under 120.
In similar news, Nintendo has also confirmed that prices for their handhelds will also come down in Japan. The DSi has come down to 15,000 yen, having launched costing 18,000, whilst the DSi LL (known as XL in the west) will now be set at the 18,000 yen mark, down from 20,000.
No news on whether any other regions are set to receive price drops, but we'll keep you apprised.
