We'll see an increase in Wii birthrate this summer...

Following last night's news post where Reggie commented on Wii shortages, saying that 40% of the 1.8 million Wii manufactured every month go to USA, Nintendo announced that, starting this summer, production will be increased to 2.4 million per month.

Nintendo has been slowly increasing the Wii production rate, playing it safe due to the state of the world economy and to avoid the (unlikely) possibility of units gathering dust in store's shelves.
