Today was the day that the Japanese hardware and software figures for the first half of the year (January 1st to June 30th) were released.

While Nintendo themselves may have only sold 3.15 millions software units their Pokemon subsidiary sold 1.44 million units making Nintendo's total sales 4.59 million units.

Their nearest competition was Square-Enix which sold 4.28 million units of software.
