Nintendo's market value has now surpassed Sony's, thanks to the Wii and DS...
We previously reported that Nintendo was catching up with Sony in terms of market value. Now, Nintendo has now overtaken Sony.
Shares of Nintendo rose to 46,350 yen, valuing the company at 6.57 trillion yen ($53 billion), taking over Sony's 6.48 trillion yen value. This is thanks to both the DS and the Wii, and partly due to the low success of the PS3.
Remember that Sony's market value covers all aspects of their range of products (MP3s, Phones, Cameras, TVs...), which is a whole range of stuff that Nintendo don't produce. Nintendo have worked well overtaking Sony's market share.
