Nintendo UK has revealed their 3DS advertising plans and state that 85% of the UK will see the adverts.
After the widespread success of the DS Nintendo UK are looking to replicate it by getting the 3DS seen by as many people as possible. Following their recent country-wide tour Nintendo UK has now announced their advertising plans for the console that is set for release at the end of the month.
According to Nintendo UK by the time the 3DS is launched on March 25th 85% of the UK will have seen the advert three times and half a million people will have played it. UK marketing director Dawn Paine commented "the campaign is a celebration of the 3D experience. There are two key elements: experiential and advertising. What will be a departure for us is how we fuse them together, in a way we haven't done before."
Ms. Paine spoke to MCV about how Nintendo are focusing on footage showing real people playing the console, in an advert that we showed you last week. Paine added, "it's very fresh and different and very, Nintendo, because its all about genuine reactions, there is nothing fake or over-stated, it's all real."
Advertising the 3DS' 3D abilities is inevitably a problem but Nintendo UK are not focusing on that, instead the focus will be on reactions. Dawn Paine notes, "it's not about the intricacies of the technology. The fact you can't see it on screen will tease and push people to trying it for themselves."
