News: Nintendo Video Launches on July 13th

Nintendo have revealed in a recent press release that the new video service for 3DS will be available across Europe on July 13th.

Nintendo recently sent out this press release which confirms that the Nintendo Video service will be launching in Europe on July 13th whilst there is currently still no official date for the US.

The Nintendo Video service is an application for the 3DS which will allow users to view 3D video content. There isn't much information regarding what content will be available from day one but all of the content will be country-exclusive so expect more information from NOE soon regarding the specific programs for each region.

It is expected that the German version of the video channel will feature short documentaries about nature, travel and more. It has also been confirmed that selected episodes of Oscar's Oasis will be available. Oscar's Oasis is currently broadcast on Disney Channel Australia so you can rest assured that this is likely to be some of the country-exclusive content that was mentioned and will most probably only be available on the Australian version of the channel.

It was revealed earlier in the year that we will be seeing exclusive 3D shorts of Shaun the Sheep and other partnerships with Sky and Eurosport though when these become available on the Nintendo Video service is still to be decided.

The Japanese are already enjoying the Nintendo Video service with things such as Idoling Sumo 3DS, a program in which a popular girl group take on a variety of challenges and Magic Class 3D, a program featuring popular magicians performing different magic tricks. Each of the 'channels' are updated with new video clips daily.

What programs would you like to see on the Nintendo Video service? Would you like to see similar offerings to Japan? Or are you more interested in what the likes of Sky and Eurosport have to offer? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned as we'll be posting more about the Nintendo Video service as it breaks.
