Nintendogs: Best Friends Edition to be a pack-in with two new DS colors for the US market...

Rumours have brewed over the past couple weeks hinting at a special new edition of smash hit virtual puppy trainer Nintendogs for the US holidays. There is now confirmation that indeed this special edition, dubbed Nintendogs: Best Friends Edition, is being planned alongside a rollout of two new colors for the US market. The new colors, Pearl Pink and Teal (likely to capitalize on the surging interest for the game from puppy-loving females) will be specially packaged with the new Nintendogs version. Also planned for the pack are a bone-shaped screen cleaner (that can be attached to the DS in the same fashion as the wrist strap) and a custom skin with Nintendogs branding. The cost of this bundle has been set at $149.99 and is currently marked for a October 24th debut.

The major difference in this new edition will be the inclusion of six available breeds from the start, the most popular culled from the game's roster of 18 different puppies. The starting breeds include the golden retriever, Labrador retriever, beagle, Yorkshire terrier, miniature dachshund and German shepherd.
