News: Nintendo's Beth Llewelyn Interviewed

Featuring apparent confirmation that the Revolution will get a name change, as well as info on Twilight Princess and more, this interview is a must read...

In the aftermath of Nintendo president Satoru Iwata's speech at the Game Developer's Conference yesterday, games website IGN have chatted to Nintendo of America's senior director of public relations, Beth Llewelyn for further illumination on what Iwata did (and didn't) say.

No mention was made on the Revolution's final name - something much rumoured to be announced. According to Llewelyn however, Revolution is still a codename and "it is going to change." Expect to hear final confirmation at E3.

Interestingly, she couldn't confirm that the Sega games would be exclusively available on the Virtual Console service - hinting that other platforms may be able to download them as well (the PS3 has recently announced a similar system). She also said that new content would also be available to download from the service.

Asked about the Revolution's "big secret" we've still to find out, she answered that what it was "depends on which [secret] it is... There are just a lot of things that we haven't talked about yet. There's a lot more to learn."

Finally, she was asked about Twilight Princess, but was no less teasing with her replies:

IGN: So you're still positioning Zelda: Twilight Princess as a GameCube title?
Beth: Yes.
IGN: You're not going to say 'for GameCube / Revolution' on the box, or anything like that?
Beth: It's a GameCube title.
IGN: It's definitely just GameCube then?
Beth: Right now, it's a GameCube title.
IGN: [Laughs] Right now? What does that mean? Oh forget it -- you're not going to answer, anyway.
Beth: [Laughter]

The full interview is a great read, and can be found on IGN here.

Thanks to R-E reader Michael Beyeler for the heads-up on this!
