News: No Multiplayer For Red Steel 2

Ubisoft's Red Steel 2 will see a focus on single-player - more new gameplay details inside...

More details of the upcoming sword and shooting sequel have come to light from the latest issue of Nintendo Power magazine, including the fact that Ubisoft are not working on including multiplayer for the game - instead choosing to spend their time perfecting the single player experience. Fine by us!

Set in the fictional town of Caldera, a sort of high-tech Wild West setting, the game will allow you to level up your character through fighting which will feature gun and sword combos, although the title is more "tightly focused on intensely physical first person sword fighting, with gunplay a secondary option."

When fighting you can Z-lock on to an enemy if you choose, then hold down C to block. If you're being attacked from behind, a tap of the A button spins you around. We're excited to see how MotionPlus will be used here - while Ubisoft promise the enhanced Wii-mote will also be used extensively outside of battle too.

The game will be non-linear, with multiple paths, several hub worlds, side-quests, collectibles, and the option to re-visit old quests once you've beefed up your abilities. Production began last summer, and its expected to hit later this year.
