Looks like hopes for an online-enabled NBA Jam on Wii have been dashed...

While enthusiasm has been growing for EA's NBA Jam, the company may have dealt a hammer-blow for the anticipation of many Wii owners.

Via Twitter, EA Sports' Community Manager, Alain Quinto, seemingly confirmed that NBA Jam on Wii would not feature any online multiplayer modes when asked about online compatibility.

A couple of months ago, it was revealed that Xbox 360 and PS3 owners who purchase NBA Elite 11 will receive a download code for a trimmed-down version of NBA Jam. While the HD versions are set to include several less single-player modes, it seems Wii owners are now the ones being shafted in terms of online play.

NBA Jam is due for retail release on Wii on October 5th in North America.
