News: No Resident Evil Wii Info In Next ONM?

"Promise" made by ONM falls through.

Various readers and followers of the Official Nintendo Magazine will remember the writers teasing its readers in the last issue. In the last issue, it stated: Be sure to get the next copy of Official Nintendo Magazine UK as it contains exclusive information on Resident Evil Wii.

It states, in the september issue that they 'had' exclusive information on this upcoming exclusive for the Wii, but it didnt turn up in time for the printing process. It says the news will be with us next month. [It doesnt actually say what game it means but it says "Here's a clue" and there is a silhouette of what is easily noticed as Leon Kennedy].

However, Go Nintendo is reporting that ONM failed to deliver with their promise, and that such a thing should never had been said in their magazine. Some recent forum users have even gone as far to say that they feel deceived.

As you can see from the text above, such a promise was never made, merely one promising that said exclusive will "come eventually" and not necessarily in issue 07.

Official Nintendo Magazine UK is a publication that strives to ensure we don't mislead the public, and after a factual inaccuracy in our first issue, which we promptly apologised for, we have vowed to ensure reliability and accuracy ever since - a vow that we continue to successfully honour.

However, it must be understood that securing a world exclusive with a games developer involves a great deal of confidentiality, as should the information get leaked or revealed too early, the cat will be out of the bag and the exclusive will be ruined.

Moreover, it is not commonplace in the games magazine industry for an exclusive to "fall through", or get delayed when the developers decide more work is needed on their game before it's unveiled to the public.

Therefore we stand by our issue 06 comments that we do have a world exclusive that will be linked to the silhouette in question, but we will not be pressed to reveal further details until it appears in the magazine. Furthermore, due to extended development time, it will be a number of months yet before we can reveal it.

Is this a case of a popular publisher being deceiving? Or were some of the fans partly to blame for this getting out of control?

Make of this what you will.
