News: NOA Planning To Expand HQ

NOA is in discussion with city officials to plan for a 550,000 square-foot expansion of its headquarters in Redmond.

Flush with recent success, Nintendo of America is planning to expand its headquarters in Redmond, Washington. Over the next 10 years NOA is seeking to add 550,000 square-feet to its existing facilities, but the company must first work closely with Redmond city officials over its planned construction. The Nintendo campus, currently rubbing up directly against Microsoft's own headquarters (not a widely known fact that the companies literally reside within yelling distance) has contributed to the traffic crush that forms daily in the neighborhood and the city hopes that forward planning now can help to greatly alleviate those problems.

If the city has its way, transportation lanes that pass through the new site will be established allowing for bikers, pedestrians and, eventually, some sort of "people-mover" to more quickly and conveniently reach their destinations. An oft-delayed vote by the city council is expected later this year, perhaps as early as February.
