News: Nokia To Re-Enter Handheld Gaming Market

Creators of the N-Gage to take another stab at the portable gaming market.

Many, many companies have tried to take the crown from Nintendo in the handheld gaming market. Even Sony are having a rough time with their attempt, the Playstation Portable.

Nokia, the same Nokia who tried and pretty much failed with the N-Gage, are having a second attempt at releasing a machine into the market. Will they be successful this time?

Nokia's head of games for UK and Ireland Martin O'Driscoll certainly had something to say about the matter: "The consumer will have to make a decision: does he wants a standalone gaming device with a limited browsing capability or a phone with an MP3 player, a camera and a bloody good games platform? I think consumers will be prepared to spend 300 on a phone that offers all those different things rather than 100 to 150 for a standalone games machine."

Have they learned from their mistakes? It's only a matter of time before that question will be answered.
