News: On-Demand Video Service For Wii & DS

Satoru Iwata confirms that Wii and DS owners will soon be able to download videos on-tap...

Speaking with the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata spoke of an upcoming service which will let Nintendo gamers stream videos on their systems. The big cheese discussed the possibility of downloading media onto DS from Wii for viewing pleasure on the go, as well as outlining Nintendo's ethos for the service.

"When the service begins, you'll see how we're going to do it differently in a Nintendo-like way. There are a lot of on-demand video services, so there's no reason to do the same thing, so we're going to do something different."

There was no more hard details about the video service or when we can expect to see it. Iwata did however state that Japan was the priority market for the time being, and that Nintendo would look into bringing it to the west if proven to be popular.
