Developer id looks to pursue an expansion of their cell phone RPG on the DS.

Did you know that the high-powered team behind the PC-benchmark Doom series also makes cell phone games? Though developer id's cell phone offerings have been modest successes, lead designer John Carmack evidently feels that the DS hardware would be well suited to host an enhanced version of his RPG Orcs & Elves. Chris Kohler of Game|Life caught the following:

"We're hoping to do a DS game version of Orcs and Elves, moving over and enhancing the cell phone game on there, which would be our first real direct entry back into the Nintendo world."

Notably, the developer had steered clear of Nintendo consoles for generations due to the Big N's notorious censorship policies of the 90's. Its good to see that the success of the DS continues to draw in third party developer support. If Orcs & Elves proves popular perhaps DS owners will even see Doom - an adaptation of id's Doom RPG that is (also for cell phones).
