Analyst Michael Pachter has predicted that the Wii will be the most popular console this Christmas.
Video game analysts are always predicting which company will do best, when a new console will be released and what fan responses will be. Michael Patcher, who works for Wedbush Morgan, has stated that he believes the Wii will still be the most popular console this Christmas in spite of more direct competition.
With Kinect and Move, Microsoft and Sony's answers to motion-based gameplay, out this Christmas many are predicting that Nintendo will face stiff competition this holiday season. However, Mr. Pachter suggests that the interest in Kinect and Move is only temporary as they are both new.
"I don't think that Nintendo's holiday season is in trouble at all. The Wii has dropped from first to third, but the new models for Xbox 360 and the launch of PS3 Move had something to do with that, and it's likely only temporary."
Speaking to Industry Gamers he also echoed what Nintendo's president Satoru Iwata stated: the Wii is a holiday console that sells most during the holiday period. We'll have to wait and see if Mr. Pachter's predictions are correct.
