News: Panasonic Q 2?

Matsushita (a.k.a Panasonic), company responsible for the Q model of the GameCube, is planning to make another GameCube unit.

The company, which already sells a DVD compatible version of the console called Q, plans to expand the capabilities of the console further next year in Japan. According to Matsushita, the new version of the GameCube hardware will feature digital video recording capabilities in addition to the existing DVD playback with the Q. Tentatively scheduled for release next spring, a definitive name and price for the new unit remains unknown. Matsushita's will continue manufacturing the existing Q model, which currently retails for 34,800 yen.
