News: Partial Wii Launch Lineup

7 titles confirmed...so far.
Nintendo Power, official magazine of Nintendo of America, supplied a partial list of the Wii's strongest fall launch lineup candidates in their latest issue. They are:
- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Nintendo)
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo)
- Wii Sports (Nintendo)
- Super Monkey Ball Blitz (Sega)
- Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors (Square-Enix)
- Rayman: Raving Rabbits (Ubisoft)
- Red Steel (Ubisoft)
Although these titles have been strongly suggested (if not outright confirmed) since May's E3 showing, it is still nice to see the official magazine set them in stone by lining them all up next to each other. Again, it should be reiterated that this is a partial list currently missing other titles that have been practically guarunteed (such as Madden, Tony Hawk, SpongeBob, Excite Truck, Bomberman and perhaps as much as a dozen others). Secondly, titles listed as "launch" may actually be referring to "launch window", or the short-term period of weeks following the actual launch date. Of these titles, the only potential surprise would have to be Square-Enix's custom Dragon Quest offering, the only game on that list that wasn't in some sort of playable form on the show floor; it would certainly shore up a Japanese launch lineup that otherwise arguably skews more toward a Western audience.
One thing is for sure: Nintendo is acting on the concerns they outlined in their recent corporate management policy briefing and making sure their new system has a powerful launch with sustained offerings in the immediate following months.
