Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto confirms at tonight's Video Game BAFTAs that work on a third Pikmin is definitely in progress...
We've known that famed designer Miyamoto has had his heart set on a Pikmin threequel for some time - since July 2008 in fact, at that year's E3 expo. Since then however, news on the title has been worryingly thin on the ground, with Miyamoto even issuing an apology at last year's E3 for its non-appearance.
The last all-new Pikmin title, Pikmin 2, was released six years ago. We were still named Cube-Europe! How time flies...
Tonight however, Miyamoto was in London to collect his special lifetime achievement award at the Video Games BAFTAs, where the UK's Official Nintendo Magazine caught up with him and tweeted that he had just confirmed to them "Pikmin 3 development is 'well under way'".
It seems we may be on track to finally glimpse the game soon. E3 this year, anyone?
