The unique Nintendo franchise could work well on DS, according to one of the original project leaders of the series...

Shigefumi Hino is the former project leader of the unique GameCube launch title Pikmin. With the game recently revamped on Wii, Hino-san sat down with Gamespot to discuss Shigeru Miyamoto's oddest brainchild.

When questioned on the possibility of the series coming to Nintendo DS, Hino-san admitted that a Pikmin DS may be more probable than Nintendo are currently letting on:

"As Nintendo DS has its own unique advantages, it would be possible to create a gameplay-control mechanism which would be good for and unique to Pikmin."

With the trademark "Piktura" still floating about under Nintendo's ownership, could a DS iteration of the series be more likely than we think? One thing's for sure - Nintendo have quite a lot of the 'min on their plate at the moment with localising the Wii-make for the US as well as having Pikmin 3 confirmed to be in development.
