News: Plans For Two More Resident Evil Movies

Milla Jovovich is said to reprise her role in two more Resident Evil films. Head inside for details.

The german production company has already planned a fourth movie, despite the third one not actually being in production yet. The previous two films both saw moderate success at the Box Office, with Resident Evil getting just over $40 million and Resident Evil Apocalypse raking in just over $50 million.

After the Tomb Raider movies, Resident Evil is the second highest highest earning game-based film franchise. German based, Constantin Film AG is already in initial stages of the fourth film, and although little is known about the film, it has been confirmed that it will take place in Tokyo and be shot in Japan.

It is quite a surprising move from the company, seeing as the third film, currently titled Resident Evil: Afterlife has yet to be shot. A recent announcement suggested a shake-up as the film production would be moving to Australia.

Milla Jovovich is reported to reprise her role as Alice in both films, and it is her husband, P S Anderson (who worked on Alien Vs. Predator and Resident Evil) who created the script which Afterlife will be based on. The third film will follow her into the Southwestern American desert, where Alice will blast still more chemically animated undead. Afterlife is tentatively set for a release sometime in 2006.

The latest announcement about the fourth film instalment comes only weeks after Capcom announced the success of Resident Evil 4 - the latest game to be released from the well known franchise.
