The Pokémon series gets its first sequel as Nintendo invites you back to the Unova region.

Nintendo has just announced a brand new Pokémon that was certainly unexpected. It was not 'Pokémon Grey' like many people anticipated but in fact Pokémon Black & White 2, a direct sequel to the original game released in 2010 in Japan, and even more surprisingly it is coming to the Nintendo DS.

At present not much is known about the game and whether it will be a sequel in terms of narrative or if this is simply the third iteration we've come to expect from the franchise thanks to previous entries such as Yellow, Silver and Platinum. More details are expected later in the month courtesy of the Japanese magazine CoroCoro and Junichi Masuda has promised to reveal the names of the two new legendary Pokémon, pictured below, next Sunday.

The titles are due out on the Nintendo DS during June in Japan and a US release is expected later this year. Currently details surrounding a release in Europe are unknown but we'll be sure to let you know when we find out.
