News: Professor Layton Euro Boxart Revealed

Nintendo have revealed the final boxart for Professor Layton and the Curious Village, set to hit the DS in Europe this November.

It's time to dig out your deerstalker hat, pipe and magnifying glass - there's mysteries to be solved! It's been a while - over one and a half years since the Japanese release - but as we revealed yesterday, Professor Layton and the Curious Village is finally coming to Europe.

Nintendo have released the final European boxart for the intruiging puzzler, as well as an accompanying press release.

As you can see in some of the boxart, Layton features a unique art style with fully animated cutscenes.

As Professor Layton and his young sidekick, Luke, arrive in the titular mysterious village, they learn of an interesting artifact called the Golden Apple (we're guessing it's an apple made out of gold), which can only be salvaged when all of the conveniently placed puzzles in the town have been solved. Layton has been very well received in other territories; 700,000 copies were sold in Japan alone last year, and upon its American release it conquered the competition and remained the best-selling DS title for three weeks.

Nintendo have also confirmed that the game will see weekly puzzles released as downloadable content. We recall them promising weekly puzzle packs for Picross DS back in May 2007, too - let's hope we don't have to wait sixteen months for Nintendo to wake up this time...

Professor Layton and the Curious Village will be available for the DS in Europe on November 7th.
