News: Project H.A.M.M.E.R. Canned

Nintendo's Wii hammer-em-up is confirmed to be cancelled.

The latest issue of Japanese weekly gaming bible Famitsu confirmed what many gamers had feared - that Nintendo's Project H.A.M.M.E.R. will not be seeing a release any time soon... or indeed, ever.

The title had originally been announced at E3 2006, where a demo of the title let gamers play as a half-man, half-machine, wielding a hugely powerful hammer which was to be used against waves of killer robots, hellbent on attacking major cities across the United States.

Since then, all became very quiet on the game, until at this year's E3, Nintendo of America's Beth Llewellyn stated its development had been "paused", with the possibility of it resuming at a later date. It now seems that this is unlikely to be the case, with Famitsu's report seeming to be the last nail... hammered into the coffin.
