Ubisoft have confirmed that they will be bringing a three-year old scrolling shooter to the WiiWare service.

Protothea is a scrolling 2D shooter originally released on the PC in 2005 by Digital Builders and Sarabasa Entertainment. As a nameless spaceship pilot, you alone must destroy the menace of a giant asteroid whilst simulataneously taking down an evil political faction hellbent on harvesting minerals from the gigantic space rock for their own nefarious uses. Despite being listed on the all-knowing Wikipedia for several months now, Ubisoft have just announced that a completely redesigned version of the game will be launching alongside WiiWare in the US for 1000 Wii Points. The WiiWare version will include 3 new missions, 10 new types of villains, 2 more powerups and many more little bonuses (including the obvious Wii Remote and Nunchuk controls).
