News: PS3 Sales Rivaling Wii In Europe

Sony's price-drop has the desired effect in Europe, with console sales for the PlayStation 3 rocketing up.
In the past week, the Wii's dominance has been threatened by the large price cut that has taken effect across the continent. The PS3 is just 6,000 sales short of the Wii for the week ending October 21st. In a post-Halo lull however, Microsoft's Xbox 360 fell dramatically.
Happily though, the Wii managed to stay on top despite the cuts, and the DS' dominance remains unchalleneged. Here's a full run-down of the week's sales:
- 1. DS: 171,260
2. Wii: 70,322
3. PS3: 64,087
4. PS2: 57,152
5. PSP: 54,449
6. 360: 37,303
7. GBA: 2,286
Over in America, its interesting to note that before the price-cuts, the PS3 sold just 119,000 consoles last month, while the Xbox 360 and Wii both sold over 500,000. More sales figures as we get them.
