News: PSP Tops In Japan For Third Week

Sony continues its fortnight of upset into a third week, though with rapidly decreasing numbers.

And so the inevitable sales spike brought on by the launch of the re-designed PSP Slim begins to fall. It will be crucial to see in the next few weeks how the two handheld rivals stack up against each other once the dust has settled. Could the gaming world now see a much closer race?

On the software side of things, the top-spot was claimed by some Xbox 360 title or other there's apparently been some anticipation for - named Halo 3, if any of our readers have heard of it. Still, Microsoft's system seller only managed 58,000 units - far under the big-hitters we've seen launched on the DS and Wii. The rest of the software top five was filled out by the new Pokémon Mystery Dungeon duo, Bandai's new DS Tamagotchi title, and Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII for the PSP.
