Capcom Europe today confirmed plans to release Resident Evil Code: Veronica X for the Nintendo GameCube across all PAL territories on Febraury 27. Based on the highly popular Sega Dreamcast version, Resident Evil Code: Veronica X takes place in an isolated prison on a desolate island with Claire Redfield in search of her brother, Chris. While it remains a mystery how Chris, one of the original S.T.A.R.S. team members, appears in Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, players will be reacquainted with his iron will, body of steel and munitions expertise to seek the truth behind the dreaded Umbrella biotoxins. Resident Evil Code: Veronica X is the third faithful conversion of the Resident Evil series to become available for the Nintendo GameCube; joining RE2 and RE3. The entire Resident Evil series has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide.

In Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, players control Claire at the beginning of the game and later can control Chris Redfield. One of the many features that make Code: Veronica X different from previous Resident Evil games is the Real World System (R.W.S.). Now when Claire opens doors, solves puzzles, stores items or ammunition, they remain in the same spot for when playing the second half of the game as Chris. This feature adds realism and increases character interaction. Resident Evil Code: Veronica X also features an accessible map system so that item boxes and typewriters found by the player are marked on the map and not forgotten. With the new map system each door is coded with a different colour indicating game-play status. Now by looking at the colour of the door, players will know which ones they have already opened, which ones they have keys to open, and which doors remain locked or inaccessible.

Spanning across two disks, Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, has a suggested retail price of 29.99 (approx. 49.95). Expect a full review of the game in the near future at Cube-Europe!
