Nintendo reveal record revenues and profits as it posts its 2007-2008 financial year results. Just how well did Ninty do?
Nintendo have today announced record revenues and profits for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2008. Nintendo posted sales of more than 1.67 trillion yen, an increase of 73 percent over the prior year. Nintendo also reported operating profits of more than 487 billion yen, a year-over-year increase of 115.6 percent.
Last financial year saw 18,610,000 Wii consoles sold, bringing the grand worldwide Wii sales total to 24.45 million since the consoles' debut in November 2006. 119,600,000 units of software for the Wii were also sold, making for a ratio of 6.07 games per system worldwide.
For the DS, the last twelve months have seen 30,310,000 DS systems sold worldwide, bringing the total worldwide shipment to 70.6 million, with Nintendo expecting to sell an extra 28 million in the coming year. The past year has seen 185.62 million DS games sold, making for a ratio of 5.24 games per system worldwide.
In short, Nintendo have never been doing better!
