More game information on fighting in the game, and a look at some of the title's many characters - all inside!
In less than a month, gamers across Europe and the world will be playing Wii, and we expect many will have picked up a copy of Red Steel, one of the most promising looking third-party titles available at launch By practicing you improve yourself.
Ubisoft, developers and publishers of the title, have released new information on the clans in the game, and the characters involved. To be learn new fighting techniques in the game, the player can visit two locations for sword and gun training respectively, one called Otori's Dojo, or the other - Harry's Club.
The game features a strong learning curve, which is conveniant because just as in the same way the game's hero has never touched a sword in his life and maybe not even a gun, when picking up the game theplayer will be new to the Wii-mote and Nunchuk. So in the same way the hero will progress in the game to improve his gun and sword fighting techniques, the player will progress in skill at the game the same way.
Sword fighting in the game is based around attacking with your right sword the katana with the Wii-mote and defending yourself with the left sword, the tanto, controlled by the Nunchuk. You can dodge around your enemy to avoid his attacks or perform special attacks such as the Hammer or the Little Scorpion. While gun fighting, you can behave as a John Woo hero: you can twist your gun, reload it, use your environment to create explosions that will kill your enemies and even use your tanto to stab enemy during the gunfights. So, who'll be teaching you new skills throughout the game?
HARRY TANNER (Boss of the Club)
Tanner is the hero's first real link with the Japanese underworld. He runs a club in which the Yakuzas spend a lot of time and has quite a few connections with them. Because he is a victim of Tokai's campaign and is friends with Sato, he agrees to help the hero in his quest. Tanner organizes a meeting with the distressed Yakuzas. The hero will often return to see him in the night club, to obtain information and for weapons training. His club attracts not only the Yakuzas, but also members of the jet set, who enjoy slumming it in a decor which contrasts modern Japanese design with the by-gone charm of the American gangster era. The main attraction is a private shooting range where VIPs come to have fun and test any weapon they like, with the advice of the revered Kajima.
KAJIMA (Shoot trainer / instructor)
Kajima is a traditional yakuza, but he uses gun fighting techniques. He works in Harry's Club, in the "private shooting range". He will be the one teaching & training you all the gun fighting techniques. He used to be an Otori's student but he develop his own fighting techniques, by using ancestral self-control and sword-fighting techniques.

OTORI (Hero's Japanese mentor)
The hero's first contact in Japan, Otori will become a veritable mentor. Along with other traditional martial arts, he is a sword master and will share his wealth of knowledge with the hero. For him, the sword is not a weapon, but a necessary tool in learning self-mastery. The reasons for using it must be noble and justified. Having already been involved with the Japanese mafia, he refuses to help the hero directly, by implicating himself in that world.
