News: Reggie And Miyamoto Discuss Future

Nintendo heavyweights Reggie Fils-Aime and Shigeru Miyamoto recently spoke on a wide range of subjects, including the yet-to-come storage solution and a new DS model.

Spanish magazine Club Nintendo were recently fortunate enough to pin down the Big N's two most elusive executive figures, where a number of interesting topics arose. We've seiezed a rough translation and can give you all the titbits.

First up, Miyamoto-san was questioned on the future of the sacred Zelda series. He re-iterated that the next major Zelda game was indeed being worked on, but would refuse to say whether it would include MotionPlus support. He also failed to confirm a new DS title. On the subject of peripherals, the Father of Mario acknowledeged that there have already been quite a hefty numer of add-ons released, and told fans not to really expect anymore.

Moving onto storage matters, NoA President, Reggie Fils-Aime once again confirmed that the long awaited solution is still on the way, but bizarrely specific for Nintendo, he did say that it would probably not be a hard drive, rather a different kind of storage method.

On the subject of games, Reggie went on to repeat his previous beliefs that the "hardcore" gamer had not been left out with Animal Crossing: City Folk, and that there is Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars hitting stores early next year. He also gave his opinion on Microsoft's Mii-like Avatars, citing "copying is a way of flattering, so we're very flattered."

Finally, amidst rumours of a new DS redesign on the cards, Reggie firmly stated that new models are for when console sales go down, not up.

So is Animal Crossing "hardcore" enough? What do you think the storage solution will actually entail? And what do you want to see in the next Zelda? As always, share your thoughts below.
