Reggie responds to questions about a potential 3DS redesign.

Even though the 3DS is less than a week old in America and Europe many people are already assuming that a redesign will be released in the future. Given than the DS went through three redesigns in its six year life it is not surprising that people are asking. Nintendo of America's boss Reggie Fils-Aime has responded to these discussions.

Mr. Fils-Aime spoke to MTV and noted: "It's interesting. We haven't even sold the first one and consumers are asking about what's next." While redesigns have happened in the place Reggie Fils-Aime insists that the 3DS is Nintendo's key handheld device and will remain that way throughout the year.

It would seem that a redesign is very likely in the future but when it will be released is anyone's guess. The DS Lite came out within a year after the release of the original DS but whether this will be repeated with the 3DS remains to be seen.
