News: Reggie Discusses 3DS, Wii's Price & Wii 2

In a recent interview Reggie Fils-Aime comments on the health warning attached to the 3DS, the Wii's price and if the Wii's successor is on the horizon.

Earlier this month Game Hunters sat down with Nintendo of America's President Reggie Fils-Aime. They took the opportunity to ask him about several issues fans are most concerned about at present.

Reggie commented that the reason Nintendo has put a health warning on the 3DS, suggesting children under the age of six do not use the 3D function, is because at that age children's eyes are still developing. Since this was announced various conflicting reports and studies suggest otherwise but Reggie still claims "we are putting the information out there for parents, along with parental controls, so the consumer can make the choice".

When the conversation moved onto the Wii and whether the price will be reduced any time soon Mr. Fils-Aime stated "we always look at the value equation and when we decide it is time to address that we will do it," but didn't directly confirm or deny whether a price drop will be coming soon. However, he did mention that the Wii sold more than 7 million units last year and that this is the first time a system has sold more than 7 million units in three consecutive years.

Finally, when asked about a possible successor to the Wii Mr. Files-Aime stated "we won't launch a new system until there is a game or an experience that we can't do with the existing platform," pointing out how the 3DS is a brand new experience and that is why it is getting released. He also added "when Mr. Miyamoto and Mr. Iwata have a great gaming concept that we can't execute with the existing console" a new console will be released. So it would seem we have to play the waiting game for now.
